Troubleshooting Network issues

Basic Network Troubleshooting

Keep in mind if you play from a location far away from our server regions you may run into connection issues.

These basic troubleshooting steps can resolve common network issues you may run into.

Ethernet VS Wi-Fi

A Wi-fi connection is fine for most things like streaming video or  browsing the internet but it can cause problems when playing online games. We recommend using a wired Ethernet connection whenever possible to reduce the chance of any potential local network interference.

Power Cycle Your Router/Gateway

Sometimes power cycling your router and modem/gateway can get your connection back up to speed. Follow the steps below to power cycle your router and modem.

  1. Completely unplug your router and modem from power and wait around 1 minute.
  2. Plug your router and modem back into the power outlet and wait a few minutes for them to boot back up.
  3. Once your internet connection is re-established you can test to see if the original issue is persisting.
Disable VPNs And Proxies

VPNs and proxy servers can often help with optimizing your connection to online services but they can also cause conflicts. If you are using a VPN or proxy try disabling them see if it helps resolves any connection issues you may be experiencing.

Note: If you are on a school or business network they often require connecting to the internet through a VPN or Proxy. You may need to reach out to your network administrator for further assistance.

Connect to a Public DNS

DNS (Domain Name System) acts as the phone book of the internet. If you are having trouble connecting to the game servers then changing your DNS sever to a public DNS can sometimes resolve the issue. Keep in mind this will likely not resolve any ping or packet loss issues you may be experiencing

How To Change Your DNS Server
  1. In Windows, open your Control Panel > Network & Internet > Network & Sharing Center > Change adapter settings on the left-hand side.
